Overview

Hasamu is a mahjong solitaire game developed and released by Irem for arcades in Japan in 1991.

A unique variant of the traditional mahjong solitaire game, Hasamu gives players a grid of unstacked face-up tiles and tasks them with matching tiles of the same face in an attempt to clear the board before the timer expires; however, tiles can only be matched if they are on the same column or row as long as there are no empty spaces between them (although players can move one of the tiles in one direction to make the match). As the game's name "hasamu" ("to put in-between") implies, players can match tiles with other tiles in-between, which are removed for bonus points; however, incorrect usage of this can cause a failure if the board ends up with stray tiles.
