Overview

MicroVolts (also known as ToyWars in Japan, and H.A.V.E. Online in South Korea) is a third-person shooter developed by NQ Games and published by Rock Hippo Productions in North America for PC. Players take the role of one of four toy figures fighting in various arenas. Each character is customizable, along with weapons and other accessories, all of which alter the characters' stats.

The game's servers were taken offline worldwide in 2017, although Masangsoft has made claims of purchasing the rights after the shutdown, and have stated that they intend to re-release the game some time in 2021.

Gameplay

The player has seven weapon slots at all times: a melee weapon, an SMG, a shotgun, a sniper rifle, a minigun, a rocket launcher, and a grenade launcher. All players begin with identical sets of weaponry regardless of chosen character, although different variations of each weapon, each with their own stats and attributes, can be obtained. Character's accessories will also sometimes come with advantages in combat, providing boosts in different areas such as health or speed. The base health of each character is 1000hp, but can be increased by different accessories.

Customization

MicroVolts in YirGame

There are four base characters to choose from in Microvolts: Knox, Naomi, C.H.I.P., and Pandora, with the latter two being unlockable characters. Each character can then be further customized via purchasable cosmetics, tied to their intended character.

Weapons can also be customized beyond the starting seven, although non-standard weapons must be earned or purchased before use. Unlike cosmetics, however, weapons are not locked to any of the four characters.

Load-out changes must be made before entering a match, but stay until further altered.

Initial Backlash

Before the game's release, debut trailers released for H.A.V.E Online appeared to bear notable resemblances to promotional trailers for Team Fortress 2, both in art style and trailer composition. NQ Games (then SK iMedia) offered a statement on allegations that they were attempting to copy Team Fortress 2, stating that "Debating (as to if it's a rip off or not) is like having blind men touching [sic] an elephant and describing what it looks like."

Future trailers for the game would be completely re-cut, removing a majority of the alleged similarities between the two games' trailers.
